We got a call from a nearby village about a cat that had fallen into a deep well and was stuck with no way out. The villagers had been hearing her cries for hours but couldn’t reach her safely. By the time we arrived, the meows had grown faint, but she was still fighting to be heard.
Peeking into the well, we spotted her — a small, terrified cat huddled on a narrow ledge, soaked and trembling. It was clear she had been there for quite some time, and her strength was fading.
Our K9 Safe Animal rescue team quickly set a plan in motion. With ropes, a carrier, and help from the villagers, we carefully lowered the rescue gear down. It took patience and calm, but eventually, she let herself be guided in. Slowly, we brought her up to safety.
Once out, we wrapped her in warm towels and checked her over. She was cold, hungry, and scared, but thankfully, there were no serious injuries. After some food, warmth, and rest, she began to recover.
Since she was a community cat, we handed her back to the villagers after the rescue. They were grateful and promised to take proper care of her going forward. To prevent such incidents in the future, we helped them cover the well with a sturdy net. A small step that can save many lives.
At K9 Safe Animal, we believe every rescue is a shared responsibility. Together with communities, we can create a safer world for animals, one act of kindness at a time.
